Overview:
The Kosaken-Kavallerie-Division, led by General Pannwitz, was the last large Axis unit sent to Yugoslavia to fight Tito's partisans. Pannwitz decided to divide his command into six kampfgruppen, each built around a cavalry regiment with an artillery battery in support, and sent them against the Partisans in Croatia and Herzegovina with an engineer battalion keeping watch on the railway in the Save valley. The division also formed a small reconnaissance group, probably using ex-Italian vehicles. The autumn and winter saw no major successes only hard fighting. South of Zagreb, the recce group engaged a large - maybe 400 fighters - partisan unit and pinned it in around the small village of Oborova.Attacker: German (Aufklarungs Abteilung 55 with Siberian Kosaken Reiter Regiment 2)
