Overview:
As the war entered May 1945, the short-lived nation of Croatia was collapsing. Thousands of soldiers and civilians fled north and west towards Austria with the hope of sanctuary from the advancing communists. On the 11th the Dravograd was reached and the column halted just south of the town. Blocking any further advance through was the 51st Slovenian Partisan Division. The Croats made several attempts to bypass the town but were denied passage by the Slovenians. Following a mortar barrage, the head of the Croat column deployed and frontally assaulted the town. In the center, the 2nd Croatian Infantry Division attacked, reinforce by a company of Ustashe tanks.Attacker: Croatian (2nd Infantry Division)
