Overview:

"Never Give In" -- The 14eme Division d’Infanterie deployed to the south of the Aisne, and established a defensive line there, while maintaining a small bridgehead on the north side of the river at Rethel, with a view to eventually mounting a counterattack. General de Lattre didn’t hesitate in requisitioning anything he could get his hands on to bolster his positions, even putting retreating units into the line. In this way, three B1-bis tanks on their way to the 8th Tank Battalion were quite simply requisitioned. They would play a vital role in the defense of Rethel next to the troops of the 152eme Regiment d’Infanterie.
Attacker: French (1er Bataillon of 152er Régiment d'infanterie of 14er Division d'infanterie with "Téméraire", "Lunéville", and "Villers-Bretonneux" tanks of 8e BCC)
Defender: German (Infanterie Regiment 68 of 21. Infanterie Division with Armored Reinforcement)

2025-06-11(A) Doba Serge vs Eric B. German win
2023-11-01(D) Pascal Boileau vs Julien Denis German winA nice scenario for a tense game. In the first part of the last turn, the French should win. However, it's ASL and in the second part of the last turn, the French lose the game (with some help from the dice..). Thanks to Julien for his fair play !
2023-06-08(A) Peter Palmer vs Neal Ekengren French winWARR 1940 2nd game completed.
2022-10-18(A) Owen Edwards vs German winVery tight but basically determined by two things: the French relying on their last two turns to actually cross the river, and an absolutely incredibl run of poor MC/PTCs in that period - 6 squads, 1 HS, and 1 leader faced at worse 1MC (avg morale of those = 8), and 5 squads and the HS broke and the remaining squad pinned. The B1s, however, were a terror, despite some rapid German manoeuvre from the PzIII to get decent shots in - the 6 or 7 German hits from 5 AFVs and 1 AT gun all pinged off, whilst the B1s took out both German tanks and a PSW222. Good fun, if exasperating at the end - you have to laugh!

2020-01-12(A) Chuck Dye vs DD French win
2019-02-10(D) Richard Jenulis vs Darren Kovac French winNWASL Championship 2019
2017-02-11(D) Gordon Jupp vs Christopher Howard German winChristopher chose this one and asked for the French for his first ftf full ASL game. The game was good fun with several twists, 2 French 1/2 squads going fanatic and 2 German heroes to name a few! By T5 the French had a small foothold across the canal but the Germans counterattacked in force and succeeded in breaking all the French on the North side....
2017-02-05(A) Richard Jenulis vs Allen Evenson German win
2017-02-05(D) Allen Evenson vs Richard Jenulis German winGermans stayed on their side of the canal and covered the bridges. The French managed to get 3 squads and a leader across one bridge in by end of last French player turn, unfortunately they were adjacent to German AT Gun. 1 French MMC made it across the other bridge but broke in last German turn Prep Fire. All remaining German infantry converged on the other stack after the Gun pinned 2 of the adjacent French squads in Prep-Fire. Nothing survived French Defensive Fire except 2 leaders and the Gun crew. All of which jumped in for CC and had a very improbable 1:4 -1 CC chance needing a 2 or a 3 to win the game. Rolled the 3 to secure the very lucky German victory.
2016-10-22(A) Martí Cabré vs Santiago López French winI pressed hard against the German defenders. The French firepower was higher but the German MG were a hard nut to crack. I could lay my tanks across a bridge to give cover to the infantry and in the last turns I managed to assault/advance a couple platoons on the other side of the canal, including units swimming across. The German counterattack failed to dislodge me for a French win.
2016-09-22(D) patrick palma vs Chuck Dye German win
2015-03-20(D) Michael Rodgers vs Gary Mei French winGermans kept all their bodies on their side of the canal. French could not cross with infantry until turn 6, but then there were not enough Germans left to throw them back.
2014-12-27(D) Richard Jenulis vs Joe Vennarucci German win
2013-10-12(D) Gordon Jupp vs Kurt Berger German winASLOK 2013 - Great scenario with options for both sides - I had the Germans and opted for the conservative staying on my side of the canal and hoped to keep the French away - Kurt played a good game and got two of the Tanks across with the third going for non-platoon move armoured assault with infantry on the last turn - unfortunately for him the tank failed it's NTC! So the infantry rushed across one bridge to be met with a hail of fire from the remaining defenders. One squad made it...So in my last turn I trundled two tanks and three squad in armoured assault across the other bridge..One squad went down to a snake eyes roll but the other two survived all fire and advanced across to take the win. definitely one to play again!

2013-03-06(A) Will Willow vs John Richards German winNE
2012-08-12(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Sami Ayvasik German win[Imported from ROAR]
2012-06-23(A) nathan wegener vs Mark C French winMagnifique!!! My opponent charged across in turn 1 and got a foothold in the factory. Pushed him out just in time to receive a charge from the armor. whacked an AC but the burning wreck provided cover for another charge on my right flank. Had to pull out all the stops to rush enough troops across to get the win. TtT2012
2012-03-19(D) Steven Cummings vs Ish Molnar French win
2011-08-09(A) Andy Beaton vs Jeff Wasserman German winJust couldn't coordinate the armoured assault over the bridge, and the final rush was broken up by armoured cars.
2010-06-26(D) Paul Legg vs Paul Hasesler French winDouble One 2010
2010-05-03(D) Sebastia Hummel vs Armin Kraft German winExcellent scenario - a must have played
2010-03-12(D) Bob Callen vs Rodney Callen French winReally like this game. Should have won, although Rod outplayed me in one of my first games back from a long ASL layoff (I played the German vehicles rather poorly, Rod played his well). Ultimately, this came down to a last turn when Rod ran a squad through several residual fire hexes to claim the win.
2010-01-19(A) Ian Willey vs Dave Ramsey German winBoth sides have to get accross the bridges with the pressure on the French as Jerry wins the tie. Enjoyable but a first turn error allowed Dave to have the advantage. Still it was nice killing his tanks
