Overview:

Republican forces had launched the Ebro Campaign, where they would attempt to key terrain south of the Ebro River. The main focus was to draw forces away from a planned Nationalist offensive, and keep the war going in hopes they could still win. Republican forces planned to use darkness to make initial river crossing, which were targeted at areas where Nationalist troop densities were weak. Although air reconnaissance made Nationalist forces aware of Republican troop concentrations, they did little to reinforce their lines of defense. They instead formed reserves to counterattack any penetration. However, militia and company-size formations did man the initial defenses on the Ebro River. The 3rd Battalion, 33rd Brigade was the first Republican unit to cross the Ebro near the city of Flix. At 0015 on 25 July, they started to make their crossing, meeting no resistance. The attack against the city began at 0600, with machineguns on high ground providing fire support. The Republican attack focused on key buildings, which included a factory.

2024-08-29(D) Pascal Boileau vs Laurent Tinture Spanish Republican winThis scenario is tough for the attacker but Laurent succeeded to take the 2 victory buildings before the last turn. There was only one Nationalist MMC remaining on the board... Well played Laurent !
2023-09-24(D) Jobbo Fett vs RootinPutin Spanish Nationalist winAn incredibly tough start for the attackers, where the open ground proved deadly for the Green troops. Constant breaks meant that by the half-way mark of the game, they hadn't secured ANY buildings, much less the objective ones. We called it early due to the overwhelming defensive firepower remaining and the time needed to finish the job being far too close for comfort. Honestly, not sure what the developer for this scenario was thinking, but I would highly suggest throwing the attacker a bone, either with the possibility of a Human Wave (on Turn 1 only), perhaps increasing the amount of units that start on the map to 16 squads, instead of 12, or, as a last resort, allow a secret option for the attacker, where they can have reinforcements come in on turn 5 from the north or south. Would be interested in hearing other people's AARs with one or multiple of those options chosen...
2021-01-08(A) Martí Cabré vs Eoin Corrigan Spanish Nationalist winA second try of the same scenario after the poor results of October 2020. This time I focused on a concentrated attack on the first factory with the other group waiting for the right moment to advance. I managed to avoid most of the Nationalist MG attacks but Republican troops have so bad quality that every turn ended with half of them broken and many of them taken prisoners by disruption. We played 4 turns with the Republicans advancing at horrible costs but it was physically impossible to reach the second factory with only two more turns and 50% of the attacks with broken morale, so I conceded. Again. Really a bad scenario.
2020-11-09(D) Juan Garrido vs Solo Spanish Nationalist win
2020-10-17(D) Alberto González Ramírez vs Javier G. Spanish Nationalist winVery tough for the Attacker. We played balanced for them but at the end of turn 5, Javier conceded.
