Overview:

The Americans successfully deceived the Japanese into believing the main landing at Tinian Island would be off Tinian Town. While the Japanese attention was focused there, the actual landing took place on a small beach two miles from the northern tip of the island. Company E, riding in LVTs from Company D, 2nd Armored Amphibious Battalion and reinforced with an assault gun platoon, approached the beach under the cover of a smoke barrage fired from Saipan.
Attacker: American (USMC) (Reinforced Company E, 2/24 Marines, 4th Marine Division)
Defender: Japanese (Elements of 3rd Company, 1-50th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division)
