Overview:

Following the Japanese landings at Lingayen Gulf and Lamon Bay and the subsequent breakthrough at Rosario, the American and Philippine forces under the command of General Wainwright initiated their withdrawal to the Bataan Peninsula. They would set up defense lines a night's march away from each other, trying to allow as many troops as possible to make their way to the peninsula. Blocks were set up along Route 3, and any units available were used, including the remaining Stuart tanks of the Provisional Tank Group. The Japanese made contact with the infantry and then brought up tanks to break the positions.
Attacker: Japanese (Elements of 49th Infantry Division and 7th Tank Regiment)

2025-10-27(D) Andy Bagley vs Josh Kalman Filipino / American winAs the Americans I tried to hold a line along hexrow L, and the battle quickly became a bloodbath, with Japanese banzai charges and multiple close combats causing heavy losses on both sides. My M3 was quickly knocked out (despite being hull down behind the roadblock) and I got two of his tanks in return, but the other three got lucky with their initiative DRs (no radios) and were able to surround my remaining units. EXCEPT that at the start I had two HSs concealed at the top and bottom of Row H, which the Japanese had ignored (thinking they were dummies). These inched forward on my turn 3, and next to the road on turn 4, when the Japanese found they had insufficient forces to drive them away. So a rather sneaky American win.
