Overview:

The next priority for General Krueger's XIV Corp after the retaking of Manila was to secure the dams and reservoirs notheast of the city that provided the metropolitan area with water for all puposes. The high ground surrounding the Ipo and Wawa dams were the first objectives held by the conglomerate IJA defense force know as the Shimba Group. The bulk of May saw a relentless advance that cleared the hills of the tough defenders by the third week. The XI Corps then took over the assault, with the 18th Infantry Division pushing the main body of the Kobayashi Force off Woodpecker Ridge. Next up was the pursuit of the Kobayashi remnants through the valley lowlands heading north. . . . .One of the few fighting withdrawal scenarios around. A Japanese force must fall back in front of a wave of US firepower, while also trying to stop the US player exiting.

2022-10-07(D) Michael Rodgers vs Jim Risher Japanese winJim did not attack aggressively. The Japanese were able to keep concealment by assault moving and advancing for longer than I expected. Americans made more CVP, but Japanese made more exit VP for a combined total of Jap 23 to Ami 21.
2020-11-01(A) Stephen Stewart vs Richard Jenulis American win
2020-04-09(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall American win4.75 hrsSetup in a combination of stopping an American rush with being far enough back to flee. The trouble with fleeing is this is a long scenario for the small amount of board that's in play. Turn 2 I fell behind on the CVP count by losing three HS to his one. Mostly this was due to a serious RoF tear from his mortar. He had not marked the HS carrying it CX when advancing into jungle, and it's hard to say how that would've affected my choosing to stick around and fight, and whether or not that may have made a difference in this game. The next couple turns saw the Americans stand and fight (rather ineffectively) trying to dislodge my troops. My mortar did its fair share of damage by eliminating an American squad, and the CVP was close again. But the next turn saw my eastern defense crumble, and a conscript squad go berserk in FPF. He was soon to die. The Americans exploited my weak east and sent almost everybody this way. By this time I was running low on bodies, and would have to rely on a couple FL to try and stop him. When he moved a full stack of units and survived a 6+1 unscathed he managed to sneak off enough units for at least a 19-16 edge.
