The German effort to wrest control of the northeast sector of Cholm got underway early on June 8th. The attack made significant headway thanks to superior German armor, artillery and air support. The Russian unit in this quadrant, the 73rd Rifle Regiment, was not able to prevent the Germans from capturing the entire district by the afternoon. However, at 1200 and at 1300 hours, the Russians did mount several company-sized counterattacks intended to regain control of the nearby Northern Graveyard and the burnt and rubbled remains of the Church of Christ's Ascension. These failed. Once darkness settled over the battlefield, the Russians renewed their effort. . . .**There are three options for Russian player to chose, have different VC objectives and OoB for Germans depending on choice.
