Overview:

The German capture of Rzhavets concerned General Vatutin, the Voronezh Front Commander, as he understood its significance. The orders were passed, and Rotminstrov’s deputy, General Trufanov, formed two armored groups and led the counterattack. The 12th Guards Mechanized Brigade, reinforce with the 1447th SP Artillery Regiment, attacked the Germans in the vicinity of Vypolzovka late in the day. The Russian attack knifed into their flank and the Germans were forced to commit additional forces.

2019-08-23(A) patrick palma vs John Garlic German win
2019-06-14(D) Stephen dedier vs Reenstra, Dave Russian winWell this was a new one for me.
My Germans were being soundly defeated when they found some backbone, knocked off all but 1 T34, held in CC and the Russian dice went cold.
I was falling back into a 2-hex wooden building. I shot a Bren in bypass and flamed it giving smoke cover to the building (hurting my shots but it was getting late. I drove the PzIII into the other building hex and collapsed the building into another hex. Then the fire jumped to the building and the rubble hex, no worries I have time. I had one FS and 2 HS, LMG and a leader defending to just hold out the building.
Russians closed in but shots were ineffective. The T34 drove into the hex with my PxIII and then the flame in the building turned into a blaze, another blaze put a flame in the rubble hex and then that went to a blaze in the last turn.
I wound up forced into the 2nd floor of the remaining building hex.
At game end I had an unbroken HS and leader on L1 but a blaze in L0. Near as we can read from the rules, this constituted Russian control as they surrounded the hex. Still not sure about this but sometimes the bear gets you.
