Overview:
The German capture of Rzhavets concerned General Vatutin, the Voronezh Front Commander, as he understood its significance. The orders were passed, and Rotminstrov’s deputy, General Trufanov, formed two armored groups and led the counterattack. The 12th Guards Mechanized Brigade, reinforce with the 1447th SP Artillery Regiment, attacked the Germans in the vicinity of Vypolzovka late in the day.
