Overview:

Lt. Col. John Waters was tasked with creating a "tank-infested area" in the Tine Valley southeast of Mateur and reconnoitering the bridges across the Medjerda River at El Bathan and Djedeida. Waters' route of march led over the hills between the Tine River valley and the coastal plain via Chouigui Pass. Early on 26 November the local Axis commander, Colonel von Broich, sent a small force consisting of a company of the 11th Parachute Engineer Battalion, a company of the 3rd Tunis Field Battalion, and a company of the 190th Panzer Regiment to drive out the Allied forces in the valley. The force included six Mark IV tanks with 75mm high-velocity guns, a type not yet met by the Americans, and three 50mm-armed tanks.

2022-11-13(A) Vic Lauterbach vs JM German / Italian winJim drew the Amis in this one, so I had to guess if he'd try the M3A1 ambush or something else. I relied on mass. I sent the Italian ACs and one platoon down the river road to find his ATG and mortars. Everything else went over the board 2 hills. GTs 1-2 went entirely my way except for LR MG fire that wounded/broke my 9-1 and a 548. I was up four AFVs as Jim lost two GMCs and four Stuarts to my one PzIV and one AC plus the 37LL ATG malf'd using IF during an AC OVR. At the end of GT4, I'd lost a second PzIV (with another stunned) but Jim was down to one Stuart. In GT5, I closed in on the village and took out both mortars. Jim's last GO MMC retreated to buildings N9 and O9 where they put up a stiff fight while encirled but finally broke/surrendered/died in CC (the last berserk HS) giving me the village with 7 AFVs mobile AFVs with functional MAs (plus a HT). Neither sniper did better than a pin. This one offers lots of tactical options for both sides and is a great primer on DTO terrain. Jim's summary: I got lots of hits but not enough low TK DRs to stop the PzIVs; 6 ML MMC can't hold wooden buildings hit by 75Ls!
2020-11-23(A) wayne baumber vs Joel American winTough one for the Axis, as those hidden M3's make the initial turns a bit of a lottery. Very enjoyable wild tank battle in our mid game but he German infantry debussed too far from the objective and were unbale to capture any buildings. In the end a very comfortable US win
