Overview:
Major General Truscott considered capturing the town of Vesoul as critical to the continued advance of his VI Corps. He committed the 3rd Infantry Division to attack and seized the town. As part of this attack, Company I, 15th Infantry Regiment moved on Saulx de Vesoul. Approaching the town, Company I ran into more resistance than expected. Germans manning a roadblock opened fire on the company. 1st Lt.
