Overview:

A Kampfgruppe from Panzergrenadier-Division “Grossdeutschland” took part in Operation NATZMER on 15 August to blunt a Soviet attack across the Vorskla River. As the day progressed, many of the unit’s Tiger tanks, in action for the first time, began to fall by the wayside, though as often from mechanical issues as from combat loss. After struggling through the two villages and then pausing briefly to replenish ammunition, the remnants of the kampfgruppe reached Belsk late in the day and went into action right away.
Attacker: German (Aufklarungs-Abteilung, Kampfgruppe Natzmer, Panzer-Regiment "Grossdeutschland")

2022-07-08(D) Jack Wilson vs David Wolff Russian winHuman Wave 2022 warm-up. Dave played a great game. I managed to keep my Russians from falling apart. I did a lot of skulking and fell back slowly and was able to hold the three VC buildings in the southeast corner. David ran out of time, but not heart.
I think the key to a German victory here is to push hard and risk casualties. With all those elite ML squads the German player has, he can risk giving the Russians a few dangerous shots for the sake of gaming ground. The small (three-hex) hill midway down on the southern edge is a critical strongpoint for the Russians and should be a primary on the German right.
Interesting note: my Russian Lt. Mtr. made rate something like 8 or 9 rolls in a row one fire phase and did NO damage! But the mortar men needed a nap after that.
2021-07-10(A) Jim Liang vs Tim Zukowski German winHuman Wave 2021 - Germans gained control of 6th multi-hex building in south east corner of map with one squad during advance phase of last turn to win after his kameraden sucked up all the Russian defensive fire around the central stone buildings. Close, hard fought battle.
2021-07-10(A) Steve Gibson vs anonymous German winMy Germans were able to get into the stone buildings after some murderous fire into the woods they were entering. After that, the Russians weren't able to concentrate enough firepower to stop the German advance, and they were defeated piecemeal.
2021-03-05(D) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites German winYeah...pretty tough on the Russians if you don't hurt the Germans early, which I did not. Germans DC'd me and then rolled up on me in Close Combat. I kept ELR'ing which ensured my destruction. And then to cap off my misery, my 8-0 and 4-5-8 with the MMG go Berserk and run to their deaths. It's games like this that make me dislike ASL from time to time. Germans were able to take every building for extra style points.

2020-10-21(D) Dmitry Klyuykov vs Anton Sulin Russian winTense "till the last die roll" game.
2020-07-04(D) Raoul Duke vs BS German winScenario is probably fairly well balanced, but that balance assumes that the Soviets can morale check their way out of a wet paper bag, which I could not.
2020-04-17(D) David Garvin vs Benjamin Steinberg Russian win
2020-04-14(D) Larry Rohlfing vs Ben Steinberg German win
2018-12-16(A) O Ramaille vs Russian winThe German assault suffered from accurate Russian fire that somewhat disrupted the attack. The German reinforcements tried to flank the russian defense but they were unable to seize their target building. The Germans continued their advance and controlled some new buildings. They meleed the Russian defenders but the process was too long to achieve victory on time. They were even close to lose control of one building but they captured it back at the end. With only 3 controlled buildings, the German conceded victory to the Russians.
A comment: the written aftermath does not at all match the scenario as it was designed. We heard of AT guns, mines and Tigers but none appear in the current scenario. This is somehow confusing. The scenario is however nice to play.
