Overview:

General Yamashita's plans for the defense of northern Luzon included fighting withdrawals and a gradual retreat to the mountains and the Cagayan valley. Needing to move the 2nd Tank Division -- his main mobile reserve -- and pestered by subordinate generals to go on the offensive, against his better judgment Yamashita authorized an attack. Shortly before midnight on the 16th, elements of the Shigemi Detachment moved towards barrio Potpot and the outposts of the 103rd Infantry Regiment.

2025-12-29(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Japanese win2.5 hrs
2025-12-29(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Japanese win2.5 hrsMy Japanese Schwerpunkt on the north side. Both of Dan's HIP Bazooka Half-Squads were revealed by jitter fire. Both would be eliminated in CC, but at the cost of two Japanese Tanks. By Turn 4, I had 4 tanks in range of exiting. I had eliminated 10 CVP of the Americans and so needed 15 points to exit. Three of the 4 would sneak past the Sherman. The 4th tank along with my 8-1 would killed in an Intensive Fire shot from the Sherman. But the 15 points gave me the immediate win. Keeping the Americans in No Move is essential to the Japanese victory.
2025-09-09(A) Craig Renier vs Dave Mareske Japanese win
2024-02-25(A) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. Japanese winMeh. Typical of night scenarios, the attacker tries to stay cloaked, the defender tries to find starshells, then they both have a go at CC. I played as the Japanese. I picked a side, moved forward, and overwhelmed the spread out Americans over there. I only played it because it was the first 1945 PTO scenario I have as my friend and I move towards Manila. This should have been a skip. Interestingly, it was the first Winter Offensive 2014 scenario I played, so there's that...
2022-12-11(D) Stephen dedier vs Mike Johnston Japanese winThis was a really fun scenario.
Mike pushed up the middle and had skeleton forces on the flanks. I had the Americans pretty concentrated in the middle with scant on the flanks so i could get freedom of movement quickly.
Action started with the Japanese slaughtering the American pickets but at the cost of starshells illuminating them and the Americans beginning to pick off the Japanese armor.
A surge up the middle broke a number of US units but at a large cost of Japanese when Mike split and went for both flanks. I didn't have enough units to cover everything and made a poor decision to last ditch some units that just became fodder for Japanese in CC.
In the end the Japanese exited 15 points and caused 12 CVP to the US. All the Japanese armor was lost and neither of us had much infantry on the table at that point.
Well played by Mike and a fun scenario
