Overview:

As with all major offensives, arrows on large scale operational maps obscure the fluidity of the action taking place at ground level. Operation Gelb was no different, with German infantry struggling to maintain security on the flanks of armored columns slashing through the Low Countries into France. Belgium villages, bypassed and thought to be abandoned, were sometimes found to be occupied with Belgium troops equally confused in the swirl of larger events. One such village, merely a dot on a map west of Tongeren, was thought to be under German control by High Command. Moving through the area to rendezvous with a resupply train, a reinforced company of German Landsers learned the hard way Belgian reservists had not been informed the area was considered to be under German control.

2019-01-20(D) nathan wegener vs James Treu Belgian winInteresting situation with a partially ready defense. Used my 9-1 to get 2 HS to reinforce the lumberyard and MMG/HS. My opponent graciously shot the 9-1 BH him to a 9-2 monster so he could rip up 4 attacking squads. He then went berserk but the Germans just charged him rather than leading him away so this position effectively tied up nearly half of the attacking force.
