Overview:
The small island of Metchishori, in the frozen Lake Segozero, was guarded by a Finnish company that was rotated on a monthly basis. On the morning of 21 January, the 9th Company and a machine gun platoon was transferred to the island. On 28 January a band of partisans was tasked with destroying the Finnish positions in the village of Sondolyn and Kirp on the nearby shore, while the Soviet 33rd Separate Ski Brigade, supported by units from the 1st Combat Aerosan Battalion, was to neutralize the defenses on Metchishori.Attacker: Russian (33rd Separate Ski Brigade and 1st Combat Aerosan Battalion)
