Overview:

In the morning, the American paratroopers from the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment attacked from the east and the southeast, supported by tanks from the 2nd Armored Division. Fallschirmjägerregiment 6's outer defenses slowly pulled back towards the main line of fighting and prevented the Americans from pursuing them decisively. Once again, the American artillery and fighter-bomber attacks rained down on the Fallschirmjägers' defensive line before the ground troops stormed the area. In the north of Carentan, the American paratroopers attempted an early-morning crossing of the canal in inflatable boats, but they were destroyed in the crossfire. The Fallschirmjäger were harassed by constant artillery and air attacks, and the Americans finally managed to break through the German lines in the area of Ostbataillon 635. In response, Oberst Friedrich Freiherr (Baron) von der Heydt ordered Kompanie 8, FJR 6, to lead a quick counterattack to try to push back the Americans.

2026-07-31(A) Paul Legg vs Tony Gibson German winFriday Night Fight

Forgot to do a logfile for this, which was a pity as it was a fun intensive fight. Came down to the CCPh on the Germans last turn to secure the buildings, eliminating the last of the defending Americans.
2026-07-31(A) Grant Hewitt vs Jeffrey Wasserman American win2 hrsFriday night fight. My Germans gained a foothold in one of the victory buildings but I had to retire after the end of the American turn 4 rally phase. Jeff defended very well, taking full advantage of the bocage to mount a forward line of defence. I found a way into building K5 that Jeff had left unguarded, but the game turned when a broken American 3-3-7 in that building rolled snakes and became fanatic with hero creation. There were two many Americans in the building for me to clear and achieve the victory conditions, while the other building was guarded by two nearby 7-4-7s with an MMG. I failed to keep some Americans under DM, which did not help my cause. I would play this scenario again.
