Overview:

During the end of September 1941, troops of the 3rd Romanian Army, reinforced by some German divisions, setup in the steppe of Nogaï, between the Dniepr and the Black Sea. Axis units were decimated and prepared to bear the brunt of a vast Soviet counter attack. Nevertheless, they performed local attacks in order to consolidate their positions. Calarasi 2nd Regiment of the 8th Cavalry Brigade received the order to take the hamlet of Filiberta in order to protect a nearby German division. On 26th September, after a heavy artillery preparation, the 2nd Calarasi, led by its 2nd squadron, mounted an assault.

2026-02-20(A) Douglas Leslie vs Martin Vicca Romanian win

(VASL Log)
FNF game. My Romanians got off to the worst possible start when a three HS went down to the first shot of the game when the Russian MMG turned up where I didn't expect it. For the first five turns, things were looking pretty hopeless but I kept moving my guys forward in the hope that they might get lucky. Indeed, that is what happened. The Russians had been rolling low in the early going but their shooting prowess deserted them and the Romanians were able to snatch the buildings that they needed to get the win on the final turn. This is a fairly standard company level assault on a rural hamlet but seems to be well balanced. It certainly provided an exciting finish and was only decided on the last CC DR.

(VASL Log)
Friday Night Fight

I conceded in the Romanians last turn movement when it was impossible to prevent them taking the fifth building they needed in the advance phase.
2024-11-30(D) O Ramaille vs Macari Samuel Russian winThe Romanians progressed in two wings towards the village, hidden by the hills around. Despite some Russian fire, the Romanians crossed the hills without much worries. In the Northern building, the Russian became fanatic and held back several attackers. In the center, the Russian commissar had to take cover from the mortar fire and a pair of MGs. Russian fire was unable to prevent the Romanians to advance. And on the opposite, Romanian fire was accurate breaking several units. Fortunately, the commissar Piotr woke up and rallied a pair of Russian squads. They took back a building and unexpectedly prevent the Romanians to get a foothold in the center of the village. A final Russian victory, but it could have ended both ways. The results of critical DR at some key turning points of the scenarios can dramatically change the outcome.
2024-08-03(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Romanian win
2024-08-03(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best Romanian winRomanians set up a central base of fire on the back hill and then sent assault platoons around either flank. Romanians managed to close with the village without suffering many losses and secured six building at game end for the win.
