Overview:

Expecting a German counterattack before long to drive a wedge between the American beachheads at Omaha and Utah, high command tasked the 29th Infantry Division with conducting a reconnaissance-in-force west of its lines to capture two important bridges over the Vire-Taute Canal and perhaps link up with the 101st Airborne east of Carentan. General Norman Cota insisted on at least tow reinforced companies and even accompanied E Company when it crossed the Vire downstream from C Company. Intending to meet up at Montmartin-en-Graignes before heading off to their respective bridges, both companies were ambushed along the way.
Attacker: American (3rd Battalion, 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and Companies C and E, 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division)

2021-09-10(D) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites German winThe Americans pursued a cautious advance. They managed to eliminate 4 of the 4-4-7's , which were out front, but could not get close to the village as the German LMG's managed to break key American units including 10-2. So a solid win for the Germans.
2020-09-06(D) Jonathan Plott vs Dave Wisenhan American winThought I had a pretty good defensive strategy, but the careful, steady pressure by the Yank paratroopers and infantry carried the day. The HIP SSR rules made the Americans a bit more cautious than they would usually have been, but poor shooting on my part and an early breaking of my only MMG did not help the delaying tactics. It came down to the last turn, but the Americans firmly held the town center for a clear win.
2020-09-06(A) David Wiesenhahn vs American win
2019-11-10(D) O Ramaille vs German winThe German were located within the village. The American troops reached the village border with ease. But the tremendously accurate fire from the Germans broke all assault attempts despite the use of smoke grenades. A full victory for the Germans.
