On the morning of November 3, 1943, General Vatoutine's 1st Ukrainian Front launched a major offensive to liberate Kiev. The positions of the noble XIII.Armee-Korps underwent a terrible bombardment preceding the assault of the 38th Army of General Moskalenko. The riflemen are themselves strongly supported by sappers and tanks, such as the slow Churchills of the 39th Regiment. Despite the bludgeoning suffered, the defenses bend but do not yield. Nevertheless, the next day, the Russian efforts paid off and the German lines cracked. The few mobile reserves tried to intervene and the 8th Panzer Division counter-attacked.
Attacker: German (Elements of the 68th Infantry Division)
