Overview:

With the disastrous situation around Dunkerque entering its final stages, the Allied High Command decided that the operation around Narvik would have to be halted, though the city itself was taken in order to cover the evacuation and to ensure complete destruction of the port. The final assault would be carried out by two battalions of the French Foreign Legion supported by two tanks, and one battalion of Norwegian troops landing just north of Narvik. At the same time a Polish unit would launch an attack from the south in an effort to completely cut off the German troops in Narvik.

2021-01-04(D) Scott Sherer vs Jeff Buser Norwegian / French winMessed up a critical firelane which allowed a critical breakthrough for the Allies. Fun scenario but can go one way or the other fairly quickly.
2021-01-04(A) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer Norwegian / French winInteresting situation in that the defenders move first. I was a bit surprised when Scott brought the fight to me into the woods, but since they were mostly a wall of HS and my best leaders were over here I wasn't too fearful. I just bum rushed them on my turn, and kicked them when they were down to make sure they stayed out of my way for good. The move forward into the western woods mass was a bit stronger and problematic, preventing me from sending a few exploratory HS to almost instant death. I scared him off the upper levels of the hill with my hard-to-reach mortar. By the end of Turn 2 my mixed bag of men reached the eastern edge of the woods, only to be blasted by his mortar. I did make some decent headway in the middle however. Turn 3 Scott perhaps got a bit too aggressive moving forward, leaving my eastern men a path free from his deadly 9-2 and HMG squad., and they began to climb up in to the hills. My sole tank came on and was summarily shocked, immobilized, and eventually knocked out. So much for the cavalry. In the meantime the Germans kept bleeding HS. By Turn 4 I was well-positioned in the hills, and when his 9-2 died of a fatal wound Scott called it a day. Fun scenario that, despite being smallish, would seem to have some decent replay value.
2020-04-25(A) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Norwegian / French winWith Dave Mareske as the French.
2020-04-25(D) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best, Dave Mareske Norwegian / French winTurns 1 - 5 were pretty much for the Germans. The 9-2 dominated the heights and inflicted losses on the French, while the German mortar inflicted losses on the Norwegians who were caught moving into the open areas of the woods. The Norwegians were stalled in front of the hills, as the French swung around the German left with both tanks which came in on Turn 2. The Germans would destroy both tanks, but then on Turn 6-7 the Germans would break in mass as my dice went south on me. This opened up the left flank and the French were quick to head for the exit. The game went for all 9 turns as the Allies succeeded in exiting 16 VP's. The last shot was pin check on a Norwegian 4-5-7...which if it pinned would have given the Germans the win. It did not pin.
