Overview:

"Fifth Column" -- Even as Slovakia became the “first ally of the Reich” under the rule of Bishop Tiso, many Slovaks reluctant to this alliance and the course of the war, prepared an uprising. This burst out in late August 1944 as the Slovak National Uprising. The Germans reacted quickly, disarmed without difficulty part of the army and mobilized Kampfgruppen against the insurgents concentrated in the east of the country. But these Slovaks received weapons from the Allies and got surprising aid such as that of Lt. George de Lannurien, a French escaped officer, who formed a company of other escaped army vets who were deported French forced labor workers in the STO program. The “French company” was quickly engaged in the fire. At the end of September, they received the mission to “clean up” a village occupied by a reconnaissance detachment of KG SS Schill. The area was not safe, most of the inhabitants being Volksdeutsche, sometimes Nazi sympathizers.
Attacker: Allies (Elements of Forestier et Lafourcade, Compagnie Francaise and 3rd Groupe Tactique Slovaque and Partisans of the Souvorov Battalion)
Defender: Axis (Elements of SS-Kampfgruppe Schill and Slovakian Freiwillige Schutzstaffel)
