Overview:

Once Italy was invaded on 3 September and the armistice signed, the liberation of Corsica began with an uprising ordered by the local Resistance. Initially, Allied High Command considered this a potential distraction given the invasion of Italy, but once it had been revealed how many German troops were in Corsica-and that many Italian army units under a somewhat reticent General Giovanni Magli were defecting en masse-Operation Vesuvius was approved. This guaranteed that more arms would be shipped to the French resistance via submarine even as German units retreating from Sicily and mainland Italy were funneling from southern Corsica to the northern port of Bastia. By the time the armistice was made public on 9 September the Resistance, along with the Italian Cremona and Friuli Infantry Divisions, were ready to engage in combat with the German SS-Sturmbrigade "Reichsführer" moving north.
Attacker: German (SS) (SS-Sturmbrigade "Reichsführer" and assault guns of Panzergrenadier-Division 90)
Defender: Italian / Partisan (French) (20th Infantry Division "Friuli" and French partisans)

2026-06-04(A) Maximiliano Estravis Barcala vs RA Italian / Partisan (French) winAs German I was overwhelmed, I set up my units too forward and got diced on the first turn. By the end of Turn 3 I conceded since there was no mathematical chance to gather the necessary VPs. Looking back, it might be a good idea to setup the German vehicles up on the hill and use them in battle before rushing them out, since they have more than enough MPs. However, it's a very interesting scenario in an interesting map, and I think it has a lot of replayability, looking forward to trying it again!

2025-11-07(A) X von Marwitz vs Tobias Deissler German (SS) winGRENADIER 2025 - Round 1

Solid scenario, recommended.
2025-10-30(A) Tim Reade vs Dave Shannon German (SS) winThe Partisans were relatively easily pushed aside and the Italians struggled to catch up with the German advance.

Interesting situation, but failed to live up to the anticipated excitement levels.

Germans had some decent luck early on which allowed them to keep up the momentun and stay ahead of the chasing Italians.

The game was called at the end of T3 when it was clear there was little or nothing stopping the Germans escapting off the board en-masse.

A different early game outcome might have made this much closer.

Played as a 3P game, with 2P going the allies ... perhaps not so much fun for the Italian player in that arrangement, unless they can catch up to the Germans.

Worth a play and relatively quick, especially with 3P.
