Overview:

As the Commonwealth retreat continued, their forces made stand after temporary stand in front of the Japanese advance. One such position was at Kyaukse where, as defensed were being prepared, patrols were sent out to find the enemy’s leading elements. A reconnaissance by the 7th Hussars discovered a column of five Japanese tanks—escorted by at least a company of Japanese infantry—making its way up the main road to Kyaukse. A hasty ambush was quickly thrown together, and two platoons of Gurkhas with anti-tank support were dispatched to a suitable location a couple of miles south of the main line of defense.

2024-08-20(A) Andy Beaton vs Bruce Stevenson Commonwealth (Gurkha/British) win2.5 hrsRight down to the wire, the Japanese were able to exit 1 tank and 2.5 squads - If I had won a board edge CC, I'd have won. If the other remaining tank had moved independently, I could have abandoned the tank and walked out the crew. That's how close it was. Great fun.
