Overview:

The Australian commander of the Tobruk garrison, Major General Leslie Morshead, was not content to rest on the laurels of his Easter victory against Rommel's first assault on the fortress. In response to a newspaper headline "Tobruk Can Take It," he is reported to have replied "We're not here to take it, we're here to give it!" Morshead's strategy moving forward was to contest the ground between the two sides' positions with aggressive patrolling and the occasional raid. One such raid sent a combined arms force of infantry, carriers, tanks and anti-tank guns against an Italian gun position on the reverse slope of a hill about a half-mile beyond the southwestern corner of the defensive perimeter. This Italian position faced Point 209, a low rise named Ras El Madauur and a key Australian defensive position, and its proximity was a threat. The raiding party's orders were simple: "Take out the Italians and destroy the guns."

2025-02-21(D) Ben B vs Jim Italian winThis was fun scenario with some tough choices on both sides. The Italians focused on a delaying action to tie up the Aussies long enough to make it unlikely there'd be time to secure all of their objectives. A few lucky dice rolls with Italian guns, supplemented by repeated mortar attacks, blunted the main thrust of the Aussie assault and by the beginning of turn 5 we realized the Italians couldn't lose.
2024-10-17(A) neal ekengren vs Italian Italian win0.07 hrsSimple scenario which drew me into lots of analysis. Seems the Brits should use Vehicle Dust to shield the infantry advance. Last minute, stop the Vehicles to provide rout cover for any broken infantry and let the dust clear. Freeze the guns with same hex visitation since you have plenty vehicles to spare. Only 6 turns to take the guns and hillocks isn't much time. Italians have Sanger nightmares. Broken Italians will probably die routing regardless so maybe stay in a Sanger. Guns should leave Sanger deathtraps? The likelyhood of an OVR KIA isn't very high. Killing a Matilda is not likely and those moving Carriers are hard to hit. The Italians do melt away quickly.
2023-11-05(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Lauri Mattila Australian win[Imported from ROAR]
2021-09-02(D) Richard Webb vs Morris Legge Australian winA tough one as the Italians, despite the best efforts of my tank killing crews who turned both Matilda's into blazing wrecks in CC. Morris concentrated his forces well, but let the carriers loose to cut rout paths and be a general nuisance. A great opponent.
2021-07-12(D) Jason Nichols vs Eric Topp Australian winMy first DTO scenario. I played the Italians. Eric played well as the Australians and used his vehicles well to screen his advance with dust. I managed to knock out five carriers and one tank but in the end it was not enough and Erics had the numbers when it came to infantry. The game came down to the last few dice rolls but the Italian morale was not up to the challenge and they fell short of victory. Siting the guns in sangers does make them vulnerable to overrun.
