Overview:

In May 1919, Bolshevik leadership declared Mongolia a free country. They expressed their hope and support for Mongolia to join the Soviet sphere of influence. As the Russian Civil War and Red Russian forces spread into the Far East that summer, Moscow renounced all Tsarist-Sino treaties. Peking became alarmed. Both Peking and Moscow understood that Mongolia was governed by the Bogd Khan, who was both politically and militarily weak. Moscow's actions forced a military response from Peking to help stabilize Mongolia within Chinese influence. In June, General Hsu Shon-cheng was dispatched with the 1st Frontier Defense Brigade to maintain peace in Mongolia. However, some local Mongolians were not so interested in Chinese rule.

2025-04-27(D) Tuomo Lukkari vs Mikko Lukkari Chinese winScrewed up the Mongolian setup, and my dice were super bad. So it was over in 4 turns. Should be an intrestinf scenario. Just needs more competent play.
2025-02-02(D) Peter Palmer vs John Knowles Mongolian winThe Mosque and its Minaret were my strongpoint - I think John just didn't send enough to take it, relying too much on the 9-2 and that allowed me to do one of my patented encircling jukes which if John rolled bad MCs, it was all over - and sure enough, John broke and I was able to get the necessary CVP. John just couldn't buy a decent result out of 9-2, but I had already delayed his main force in the village and cause enough casualties that I was able to redeploy a fair amount of my defenders just to prevent moves towards the mosque. It then just became a numbers game in terms of what CVP I could get.
2023-09-07(A) Richard Jenulis vs Will Fleming Mongolian winThe Mongolians are supermen. Stealthy, the ability to walk through walls, can declare Hand-to-Hand, fight like Gurkhas, and Assault Fire that makes them stronger after they move. The Chines took the Mosque and well, but make no progress against the buildings. Lost by exceeding CVP.

The scenario Map depiction is incorrect (view)CloseAssaultPete2025-02-20 23:43:35
The VASL map shown is incorrect. The bottommost board (LFT 5)needs to be flipped. The Board Number should be on the right. The Mosque location should be closer to the western edge than the eastern edge. It makes a significant difference.
