Overview:

Heavy fighting raged around Bayeux, where Panzer-Lehr-Division had been thrown into the fighting. As British and Canadian troops attempted to push south towards Tilly and Lingévres, attack and counterattack ebbed and flowed across the Norman countryside. On 11 June, the 69th Brigade attacked towards Cristot and made some progress. Units of Panzer-Regiment 901, led by Major Prinz Wilhelm von Schönburg-Waldenburg, were ordered to counterattack. The troops set off in the late afternoon to confront the Allies head-on.
Attacker: German (Panzer-Lehr-Regiment 130, Panzer-Lehr-Division)
Defender: Commonwealth (3rd Canadian Infantry Division and (British) 22nd Armoured Brigade)

2024-12-23(A) Andy Bagley vs Josh Kalman Commonwealth winSecond playing of this scenario with the Germans, tried a similar approach but this time with much less success. The Allied defenders skulked and kept concealment to keep me from getting close, and my attempt to get round their eastern flank found a well-placed AT Gun, which knocked out a Panther. I also tried to get round the Allied rear with my halftrack carrying a HS, but it succumbed to a PIAT hit.
My Turn 5 I had knocked out two of the three Allied tanks but had sustained very heavy casualties (not helped by my consistent failure to pass MCs), and had no chance of reaching the number of buildings I needed to win, so i conceded
2024-09-07(D) Rob MacGinley vs Jason Nichols Commonwealth winThis is a really good game to practise combined arms
Teh CW setup with tricky 17 pounder in town setup but always feared discovery - that happend with one but not the other
The firefly should get hull down behind a wall and wait to duke it out with panthers - remember the victory is Germans taking buildings so have lots of CW halflings re-taking things that have been taken and you can un do his timetable
For the Germans The MK4s lay down smoke to any overwatch posns then teh infantry drive forward with pamthers being careful to show frontal armour untill posns are cleared of ATGs in hiding - Cromwells are easy to swat - no so the firefly but you have to gang up
Basically JAson had both bad luck and a few simple mistakes at the start - lost momentum and struggled to get it back so was unable to take buildings
2024-08-31(D) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best Commonwealth win4 hrsThis is a great game with the Brits taking back a few buildings and the Germans just not having enough guys to get to 16 buildings. Very close, with lots of tank action and close quarters fighting.
2024-08-31(A) Dan Best vs Dave Mareske Commonwealth win4 hrs2024 Grumbler round 1
2024-06-06(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall German win8.75 hrsA rather straight-forward attack and boring defense. Magnus set up his MMG kill stack in the upper reaches of 46J7, the rest of the Germans just marched straight across the boards, while the Canadians maintained concealment. Turn 2 saw first contact, as one of the big guns showed its face to fry a tank in the middle, and the Germans were already on the doorstep of the Canadian setup area. Turn 3 saw a sniper recall the AC, the two sides trade HS casualties, and the Germans grab their first building. Turn 4 was a disaster for the Canadians, losing one gun to a CH, and the other to a broken barrel. Without these guns they really don't have anything to prevent a sheer overwhelming rush by the Germans. Though the Germans only had three buildings, it was only a matter of time, and Turn 5 saw the Canadian casualties mount rapidly. Turn 6 saw the Germans completely in control, and when my last desperate shots failed on my half of the turn I threw in the towel with the Germans controlling at least 18 buildings. I think it would've been a much closer game had I not lost both guns early, but as it was it sure wasn't a whole lot of fun.
