In the small town of Saint Pouçin, France, the swift advance of Army Group B, under direct orders from the German High Command, was unfolding with the strategic precision. Their mission was clear: Push back the French forces on both sides of Paris and secure a crossing over the Loire River, while other units from Panzergruppe von Kleist were to advance towards Lyon and guard the Swiss and Italian Frontiers. The elite Motorized Infantry Regiment SS-Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, temporarily integrated with the 9th Panzer Division, was at the forefront of this blitz., racing towards the Loire. By midmorning, the Regiment's 15th Motorcycle Company had stealthily approached Saint Pouçin, a town just beginning to bristle with French defences.
