Overview:
The battleplan was set for a two-pronged assault on Trévières; the US 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division was tasked with a direct attack from the north and west, while the 9th Infantry Regiment aimed to outmanoeuvre the village by capturing Rubercy to the southeast, potentially isolating the German defenders. The geography of the village presented a formidable challenge from the north, as the river formed a natural barrier tat the attackers had to overcome.
