Overview:

The fighting between the Hungarian and Romanian forces on Hungarian soil in 1944 had been particularly bitter. The historical distrust and hatred that existed between the two nations only intensified when the latter switched allegiances and aided the Soviet invasion of Hungary. As Romanian forces were closing in on the capital city from the east, Hungarian resistance began to crystalize. Consequently, some of the heaviest fighting of the war between these erstwhile allies took place in the Budapest suburb of Cinkota, where the Romanians attempted to eject the defenders and thereby hasten the imminent fall of the Hungarian capital.

2025-12-26(D) Maurizio Mai vs Chuck HammondD Hungarian winI had the chance to replay the game with Chuck, and see whether my first impression was correct. The game ended at last CC, with one armor being able to exit. The Romanian got 5,5VP so short of 0,5. This despite very bad rolls for the Hungarian. I still believe the scenario needs to be played at least with the balance for the Romanian, maybe reducing the VP to 5 or 5,5. However, it was much more fun the previous game. Two big points: building have ONLY ground floor (a big mistake on previous game), roadblock can be cleared in DFPh as well. I might probably replay in some time, with balance, to try again.
2025-12-13(A) Maurizio Mai vs Fabio Mazzucchelli Hungarian winThe Romanians attacked along the full front. They were not able to take the factory but a major issue come with SSR 5: VBM is NA (EXC: along a Road hexside]. I am not sure whether this is to avoid Freezing or avoid any VBM at all. In the latter case, I found very difficult for the Romanian to win. In 6 turns they need to exit at least one AFV and they need to destroy a Roadblock. The 3 roadblocks can be placed to block any movement to exit. So the Romanian need to charge one Roadblock and hope for the best (two DCs in their OB). Maybe revisit SSR or balance to be used. The secnario is interesting
2025-02-23(D) rene cote vs Rob Hungarian winHungarians kept factory and building behind and knocked out two vehs, one with sniper and other with IFT rear facing shot. Romanians could not gather enough VP to win.
