Overview:

Some 16 days following the German invasion of Poland on 1 September, word spread in Poland that the Red Army had breached the country's eastern borders. At first, many thought the Soviets had come to rescue their Slavic brethren from the clutches of Hitler's Wehrmacht. The fantasy was short-lived. All along the eastern front, the Bolsheviks demonstrated their willingness to use lethal force to remove any obstacles that lay in their path. The Poles however, were not going down without a fight. In the city of Grodno, a Defense Force was assembled, consisting of everyone from police to army reservists and even boy scouts, all grimly determined to make the Russians pay for their betrayal.

2025-03-03(D) Craig Houliston vs Chuck HammondD Russian win9 hrsInteresting scenario; super-high fun factor. Blobs of Russian 426/447s + six tanks barreling towards wide-eyed Poles. Poles require a skillful fighting withdrawal. CVP cap wisely bridles Russian enthusiasm. End game: Polish 9-1/DC pinned in its final move to evict lone CX 447 from VP location. Only one of four Polish squads survived DFire for CC attempt. In CC, 457 rolled high; 447 rolled low. Slimmest of Russian wins. Poles amassed 25 CVP of 31 needed. Another great game with Chuck!
2024-11-16(D) Mark Thompson vs Richard Viera Polish winThe Polish MGs were tank killers (taking out 4, including the OT) and laid down effective firelanes to stymie the Russian advance. The Russians conceded on Turn 6 with the strong Polish reinforcements in strong positions to defend the victory buildings. A tough one on the Russians IMHO - might be better with fewer Russian Conscripts or Polish MGs, or a bit weaker Polish reinforcement contingent.
