|Clash at Borisovka||Bob Saker||Russian||2021-01-10||Won||The Russian plan was to come in stop and try to win a firefight against the PzIV's (hopefully getting the first shot), and then to either swarm the Tigers or make a run for the exit. The Germans entered one Tiger and two PzIV's on each map board leading with the Tiger tanks with the PzIV's coming in behind providing support.|
The first turn saw the Russians shock one of the PzIV's and immobilize another on the west map board, while a third PzIV malfunctioned its MA. All at the cost of only one T34.
Having the upper hand, the Russians then swarmed the remaining Tiger and PzIV on the east map board, taking both out on the second turn along with the immobilized PzIV on the west map board. However, this came at a steep price with the Russians losing five T34's in the process. The PzIV with the malfunctioned gun found its gun to be un-repairable and was recalled, leaving the Germans with only two tanks (one under an UK marker) against five Russian T34's.
When the remaining PzIV under an UK marker failed to recover on the beginning of the Russian's third turn, the Germans were down to a single Tiger tank, needing to kill three of the fiver remaining T34. The T34's went in for the kill on the third turn taking out the Tiger with a BFF shot!
A fun game all around. I was a bit surprised with how fast it all unfolded. In the end fortune favored the Russians in this one and they were able to win a game that was a lot closer then it might otherwise appear.
|Legio Patria Nostra||Dave Cheever||Free French||2020-12-29||Won||This one looks tough on the Germans as the Free French (FF) have plenty of time and can be quite methodical in their attack. The Germans set up with an up front defense anchored in the west with the AA Gun and in the east with the MMG. The Fee French (FF) place the captured MMG and 9-2 leader on the Hill in the center and focused their attack in the west and center of the map. The FF pushed forward methodically trying to minimize the number of good fire opportunities for the Germans, which paid off as the Germans luck failed them and they were unable to break any FF units until the third turn! The FF broke through in the center on the second turn. An unlucky pin result left the German 9-1 leader stranded on the center hill where he was taken out in CC. Some fortunate shooting by the FF resulted in the German defense collapsing in the west on German turn 3. With no unbroken squads left in the center or west of the map the Germans conceded at the end of turn 3. Note that the Germans were given the balance.||6|
|Ad Hoc at Chef-Du-Pont||Steve Boro||American||2020-11-07||Won||The Germans had the Americans on the ropes but Steve's dice went ice cold just as the Americans started to make their big push on the last few turns. The Americans were able to catch up to the Germans and wipe most of them out in CC. The Germans were down to a 9-1 leader, a squad and a MMG in the end as the Americans made a mad rush to get off the board. The Americans were able to get Gen. Gavin and a squad off on the last turn to squeak out a victory. It was an enjoyable game. A real nail biter at the end. Note: The Americans were given the balance.||6|
