Overview:

At the far western flank of the Japanese armies advancing south out of Manchuria was the 14th Division, led by the most hated man in China, Doihara Kenjii. Pushing ever southward, Knejii was convinced that the Chinese were constructing elaborate defenses on the south bank of the Yellow River. Seeking a quick way to break this defensive belt, he formed a fast moving column of infantry laden trucks and light artillery. The task force headed southwest toward Lenfang. By May 9th, the task force handily dispatched two regiments of the Chinese 32nd Army and entered Lenfang. Working feverishly all night, they were able to construct a pontoon bridge. With their tenuous hold on the crossing point, Task Force Kenjii signaled the 14th Division to proceed south with all possible speed.

2023-10-03(D) Jobbo Fett vs xs-bombing Japanese winA secret objective and plenty of fretting for a small(er) Japanese force gives both players a lot to ponder, although the vast amount of concealment counters is hard to use all that way when the INF guns can't HIP and you have to spend so many if you plan to fake a Gun and Crew. That being said, Shawn put up a wonderful fight with tons of back and forth action. One squad on the south side in foxholes next to the bridge were nearly invincible thanks to the lack of LOS against the defenders, and a concentrated defense with line of sight against the open hexes that could threaten them. Snipers were somewhat active on both sides, and the bridge offers little to the side that does not plan for movement across it in such a vulnerable state. There was a lot of back and forth for the objective in the last 4 turns, and only an unlucky Chinese CC roll at the end (boxcars) sealed the win for the Japanese who managed to eliminate the enemy squad and remain good order for the end of the game.
