Overview:

The armored spearheads of the 10th Panzer Division had reached an important railway junction on the road to Moscow. Kampfgruppe Hauenschildt was tasked to hold the Borodino Train Station while armored elements of the division were to push forward east. But the Russians were determined not to let them! The Germans were still arriving in the area, trying to secure the hamlet when a full battalion from the 322nd Rifle Regiment launched its attack, only a few hours after the fall of the train station.
Attacker: Russian (II Battalion, 322nd Rifle Regiment, 32nd Rifle Division)
Defender: German (Kampfgruppe Hauenshildt, 86th Schützen Regiment and 7th Panzer Regiment)

2024-06-02(A) Mark McG vs Dave Wilson German winLaate game counterattack saw a German HS weave through fire to recapture the railway station. Russian 9-2 surrendered via HOB!
2024-02-21(D) Steven Cummings vs Richard Marks Russian win
2023-08-12(A) Tuomo Lukkari vs Adam Lunney Russian win[Imported from ROAR]
2022-09-18(D) Vic Lauterbach vs Robert Campbell Russian winRobert's well-planned attack caved in my left flank and I was unable to shift enough units to restore the situation. Renato provided advice and encouragement to both of us during this fun scenario. My setup put too much faith in a few firelanes. Overall, this is a good scenario that rewards careful study of the terrain and seems like it would have good replayability.

The next scenario was J101 Borodino Train Station against Stephen. Again I was the Russians. I stormed up early, capturing the two victory buildings within two turns, but loosing my 9-2 and a 458 squad to a lousy 4+2 shot in a stone building. Both broke, and as they were next to an enemy unit and could not rout except into open ground, surrendered (only to be slaughtered by the craven SS troops.) I have to say I snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I smashed open the east flank while tying down most of his forces in the centre and west. I had five squads against one, and a couple of broken desperate units. I got over confident and rushed to the victory area on the second last turn, to see two squads go down to long range high odds shots. Still, not all was lost. On the west I had five squads against two. Sure they had to cross open ground to get to the victory location, but how much fire can two squads put out. More than enough. Every single squad broke, two to 1 -2 shots. Game over, well played Stephen. I had misread the victory conditions and assumed the victory area was closed than it was on the west side. Rule number one, read the bloody scenario card!
