Garski’s command, landing in fields east of his target, was informed of the presence of Belgian troops by stunned Belgian civilians. The Germans really have to be very aggressive in this scenario because broken and Melee Belgian units still grant them the victory. Great experience. | ||

2019-01-04 | (D) Christian Knudsen | vs | david garvin | German win | I think this one is still a little pro-German, although he needed the last CCPh to get the win. David played a really good amoeba attack, and also had some good luck at critical times, notably getting KIAs on two of my HS that were poised to cause him some difficulties in the endgame. My setup was heavily influenced by the scenario writeup in one of my old ASL Annuals, but looking back, I wish I had set up quite differently. My MMG made for a nasty surprise in T2, but I wish I'd set it up further back and saved it for T5 or 6. Similar with the crappy mortar, I should have put it up front where it could cover open ground, not set it up where it's 4 hex minimum range really limited it's usefulness. I set up about 1 squad more forward than I should have, and waited one turn too long to pull back to the main woodline, which lost me troops I could ill afford. But I learned a lot watching David amoeba his way through open ground and then consolidate in the woods and just overwhelm me with numbers and FP. A fun little match! | ||
2018-08-04 | (D) Scott Sherer | vs | Ron Kyle | German win | Played this FtF vs Ron at August CAASL meeting. On the last turn, I still had two unbroken squads and one broken squad in the victory area. However, due to Ron's patient advance, I had eliminated only 1.5 SS squads, and the ones that I had managed to break rallied quickly with the 9 broken ML. Ron was able to push hard on the last turn, and I ended up breaking one of them on a desperation FPF shot. He managed to surround both units that started the turn unbroken and position his units such that my broken unit would have to rout out of the VC area. When he broke my last GO squad with a heavy-FP AFPh shot, I conceded. All of my units were eliminated by the end of the game. Still a fun scenario and a good (i.e. different) type of game for playing with newbies to teach them infantry basics. | ||
