Overview:

Aachen was isolated, but prying the first German city away from the Reich would prove no easy task. Hoping to avoid the nightmare of house-to-house fighting, two battalions were ordered to drive through the heart of Aachen towards the three hills dominating the city to the north. Giving the 2,000 weary defenders no respite, the Americans stepped off at dawn the next day. . .

2025-10-31(A) Tripp Killin vs Larry Flaherty German winA great scenario. Americans have a powerful combined arms force working through a long city fight, with 10 Player Turns to reach their goal. The Germans have elite defenders in stone buildings with lots of MGs, some HIPs and PSKs, and a nasty AA gun.

As the Americans, I loaded up on the right flank, with two platoons to advance up the middle and only one on the left. The goals was to overload on the board edge and use MG fire lanes to keep the Germans from moving left-to-right to adjust.

Things were going very well, and I had an intact force of sufficient size near the final quarter of the board length with 5 player turns to go.

But both the German HMGs, lead by the 9-2 and 8-1, had tremendous Prep Fire ROF sprees and killed 4.5 squads. So many 2s and 3s.

Anyway, that was half of what I needed to exit, so I conceded after Turn 7 and we went to have beers and cheesesteaks.
2025-10-30(A) David Garvin vs Mark Evans American winRound 1 at Tussle in the Tundra
2023-09-09(D) Yuqi Xiong vs wf German winA big, fantastic and exciting game. I placed rubbles in a row to block tanks from breaking my center. So my PSKs HIP on both wings got 2 Shermans successfully. MG fire from high-rise stone buildings did stalled American offensive.
2023-05-06(A) Todd Cox vs German winAmericans conceded on second to last turn. 5 squad equivalents had exited, but there was no way to get 4 more off the board in the final turn. German heavy machine gun in a 3-level building wrecked havoc the whole game until it finally malfunctioned on the 3rd to last turn. Psk's turned two Shermans into burning wrecks. Sewer movement was helpful but not decisive. The Shermans missed more often than hit their targets. Used plenty of infantry smoke but should have used more smoke from the Shermans.
