Overview:

To open the attack on the morning of the 23rd, Patton ordered his chaplain, Father O’Neill, to pray for good weather. The good Father responded with a prayer, and the day dawned crisp and clear. The men of the 4th Armored Division knew that fighter-bombers would be in the air to help them, and they charged forward with renewed vigor. Their immediate goal was the town of Warnach, where the Germans of the embattled 5th Parachute Division waited on the frozen ground. The German defenders held their fire until the Americans were upon the village and had to cease their artillery barrage. The brave paratroopers then leapt from hiding and viciously attacked the American tanks with panzerfausts.

2023-06-06(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval American winGermans used PF to great effect but it was not enough to prevent Americans from steadily reducing the number of defenders.
2022-07-28(D) Jeff B vs Scott Sherer German win7.5 hrsThe Americans have to clear a ragtag German force from one of two road networks in very little time, but they have a lot of vehicles to assist in the task. Much will depend on how lucky the Germans get with their PFs/PSK, and I was very lucky. The first American turn will most likely just be spent cloing the one board gap from their point of entry, allowing the Germans a bit of time to try and start some fires, which I did. Turn 2 was spent with the Americans still closing the net, which meant they only had three more turns to complete the task. Turn 3 saw the fireworks start, with the Americans losing two tanks with aggressive moves into the village, followed by another tank and two HTs during the German part of the turn. For their part, the Germans lost a squad, another squad captured, and a LMG. The successful rebuffing of this vehicular wave probably bought them just enough time. Turn 4 saw very few casualties, as a breeze had developed from the NW, and with all the burning wrecks and a few terrain blazes there was an awful lot of smoke. This probably helped the American approach on their last turn, but definitely played to the Germans' advantage in keeping a few key units safe at the end of the game to retain enough units within the road network. Not a bad little scenario.
2022-07-28(A) Scott Sherer vs Jeff B German winAmericans have to move aggressively in order to clear the road net of Germans in only five turns, and I paid a fearful price to the German 'fausts and 'schreck. The turning point came on Turn 3, where I tried to push my armor into contact with the German infantry, figuring I would lose some but tie up the Landsers long enough to allow my own infantry to close in for the kill. However, I didn't quite coordinate the attack well enough, and the turn ended with several blazing American AFV's and the Germans still in key strongholds in the village. We played it out the rest of the way, but it felt like that was the effective end to the American chances in this one. A decent and seemingly balanced scenario that can easily be played in a single sitting.
2021-08-01(A) Dan Best vs Dave Mareske American win
