Overview:

Lieutenant Colonel Holton had three experienced companies available to him from the 2nd Battalion, 315th Infantry Regiment, for the defense of Hatten. They were supported by a platoon of M18 Hellcats, ably led by Lieutenant Robert Jones. The Germans, their eyes fixed on the neighboring village of Rittershoffen, launched a series of spoiling attacks on each of these companies, with the goal of ensuring the Americans in Hatten did not interfere with German plans to attack Rittershoffen. Smaller German attacks fell on E and F Companies positioned in the southern portion of the village. The greater German effort, supported by a number of panzers, fell on G Company in western Hatten in and around “The Fort”. This location was the American defensive position closest to the intended German attack route from Hatten to Rittershoffen.

2022-12-27(A) Stephen dedier vs Gene Patterson American winI felt pressed for time and got too aggressive with the Germans and paid the price.
60mm mortar went on a rate tear and broke 2.5 squads.
Sniper landed on a stack with 9-1 and 3 squads, killed the 9-1, then broke 2 squads on LLMC and pinned the 3rd.
I got aggressive with my tanks trying to free my HT from a situation with 2 hellcats but the 3rd was in the same area and went on a rate tear and took out one MkIV, the Panther and was going to get the prep on the 3rd MkIV. At that point, i didn't have the infantry to get the buildings needed since it was going into turn 4 for the Germans.
Good positioning of the Hellcats by Gene fooled me into thinking one would have been on the other side of the board.

2022-05-30(D) Dwayne Duval vs Kevin Duval German winFun scenario overall. Balance seems pretty good. Had some heroes, MA malfs, a few burning wrecks and some eliminated for failure to routs. Recall by sniper proved to be the straw that broke the American camels back. Good times!
2022-05-30(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval German winUsed German balance. Fun, more so when you win!
2022-02-02(A) O Ramaille vs Macari Samuel German winThe German main force entered from the East with a flanking platoon coming from the North. The German panzers moved in force trying to outflank the victory area but 2 hidden M36 tank destroyers welcomed them. The two Panzer IV and one halftrack were left burning but the US tanks did not survived the Panther. The wrecking blaze provided a lot of cover for the German infantry who forced its way to the fort. The remaining halftracks forced VBM and ended as blazing wreck in the middle of the US defense. Meanwhile, the flanking platoon provoked some failure to rout before collapsing. MG fire from the Panther broke a US strongpoint with two squads that opened the way to the West. Rough hand-to-hand melee occurred in several places sometimes ended by a blazing fire that eliminated them all. Despite the remaining M36 tank, the defending US troops were unable to hold the ground. The German were victorious but suffered heavy casualties.
2021-01-13(A) Kevin Sanders vs Rob Brown American winRouge mess of a 1st turn for both side...SAN 3 action sees a GMC Recalled and the best German ldr dead. Overun by Pather sees it bog and then immobilize...and so on. In the end the Americans collapse defense works with what they had left. Odd game
2020-10-10(D) Scott Fischbein vs Andy Beaton American winAnother vASLOK slugfest! Some stalwarts American units and a berzerker took out some key units thus ending the German assault. Thoroughly enjoyable game with a great opponent. ASLOK record now at 2-3.
2020-10-10(A) Andy Beaton vs Scott Fischbein American winYou'd think the number of bullets I threw at 6 morale troops would have accomplished something in time to get further but no, the Americans stood firm and spent their time breaking up my forces. I started to feel hope when one M36 malfed its gun and the other two fell to the Panther in one fire phase, but it was too late.
2020-06-28(A) Michal Sedlacko vs Santiago Penabella German win[Imported from ROAR]
2020-06-27(D) Ulric Schwela vs Derek Cox German winGood solid play by Derek and a bad setup by me gave the Germans a helping start. Luck went up and down for both sides, the usual dramatics and much fun. Two M18s each went on 5-6 shot ROF tears, one bouncing off the Panther, the other beating up infantry. American must make sure to keep the eyes on the prize, and not set up too many delaying units too far from the VC area like I did, or they will be trying to recapture the VC area from the German!
2020-06-27(D) David Ramsey vs Matt Ellis American winGood game. The Americans lost the tank battle but won the war. Mostly I kept concealment and slowed the German advance down. The Germans can't take this one slowly - there's a lot of buildings to take and taking on the US concealed in CC is tough.
2020-06-27(D) Paul Legg vs Chris Doary German winDouble One vasl tournament 2020
Lots of fun in this US mortars on ROF tears, Panther taken out by a frontal intensive fire crit, a successful brokie withdrawal from cc and loads more.
Would improve my setup as there were too many units on the northside, held the two VP locations on the northside of the street through the fort but couldn't destroy enough german afvs.
2020-06-27(D) Andy Bagley vs Bill Durrant American winAnother close one which went down to the last turn. The luck swung to and fro: some early German successes and a mistake by me to lose an M18, but then my other Hellcats got hot: one knocked out a PzkwIV before surviving a blizzard of panzerfausts and going on to eliminate the Panther. The Germans were close to resigning by turn 5, but a desperate charge resulted in a German squad going berserk and eliminating my best leader, squad and MMG in CC. It looked as though he was then going to secure the necessary 8 locations with more AFVs than me, as halftracks are included, but then I hit one of them in my last AFPh when I needed a '3' to do so. Which meant the Germans needed nine locations, which they couldn't do. Phew!

2020-04-21(A) Andy Bagley vs David Murray German winVery interesting scenario, went down to the last turn and could have gone either way. Battle of the AFVs made the difference in the end though - German tanks landed their shots and the American TDs didn't.

2020-01-26(D) David Shannon vs Paul Seage German winCanCon 2020. My American set-up was spread out too far and Paul is too canny a player not to punish it. My two HIP hellcats were to only thing holding him back with some caution, but when they too popped out and went down it was all over. Paul has won CanCon quite a number of times and I can see why. It was illuminating watching him play from the other side.

2019-03-02(A) Michael Rodgers vs Oddgeir Drevdal German winIn my third ASO round, I played HF6 JACKPOT JONES. I had the German attacker against Oddgeir Drevdal of Norway. He set up his troops pretty far forward. I split my forces in two. Most of the 548, the Panther and 1 Pz4 attacked into the buildings. The rest came in on the orchard side. This helped me early, but I needed to play all the turns to push the American troops out of the locations that I needed.

2018-12-10(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs American win
2018-12-08(A) Raoul Duke vs Big Noodle German winVery typical of Hatten fights. A hard house to house fight for the infantry, encased in a swirling armor battle.

As it so happened, I lost every AFV and took out none of the TDs. Their sacrifice was not in vain though-- they were able to clear a path to victory for the infantry.
2018-12-01(D) Jonathan Kapleau vs Loper, Robert German win
2018-11-13(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall American win2.75 hrsGermans attacked exclusively from the east. Not much for the Americans to do except hug the stone buildings and try to maintain as much concealment as possible. Turn 3 he swung some infantry around from the north, but I was patiently waiting for him with my hidden TDs. The only TD he was aware of was desperately clinging to life with the Panther in its face. If I didn't get APCR I'd be keeping concealment and praying. One APCR round later and dead Panther. That was monstrous. Next turn the scouting infantry from the north got stonewalled by my TDs, while the Germans tried to get a toehold in L19/K20. They would try this two turns and get severely rebuffed both times. After the second time they had no more punch left and threw in the towel. Well I've said defending in Hatten, especially as the Americans, shouldn't ever lead to victory so I was wrong. But I needed some extremely lucky dice to get there. This scenario's a bust.
2018-11-05(A) Tom Kearney vs Lindsey Murillo German winThe main German attack came from the north with a supporting effort from the east. The northern wing was temporarily stalled but picked up momentum after the eastern thrust made contact. The US found themselves getting pinched from two sides and conceded on turn 5.
2018-09-11(D) Russell Dewhurst vs Gordon American win
