Overview:

Since the end of July, the Germans had reached the Crimea and the outskirts of Odessa. The Russians fought tooth and nail but, day after day, the perimeter defense narrowed. Using their fleet on the Black Sea, the Soviet command decided to launch a counter-attack supported by a landing to the rear of the 9th Romanian cavalry brigade. The 22nd of September, while the 426th Infantry Division attacked towards the east of Odessa, the 3rd Regiment of sailors of the Black Sea Fleet was beached close to Grigorievka at 0200. Arriving without mishap in the outskirts of the village, the company of Lieutenant Tcharoup launched the assault at 0800.
Attacker: Russian (3rd Regiment, Black Sea Fleet Marines)

2022-07-12(D) Jeff B vs Joe Arthur Russian winStarted and finished in one session, the Russians surprised me a bit with just how heavy they came on in the northcentral. My mortar went on a bit of rate tear during the opening moves, but with only a CR and break on a squad, no really damaging results. Joe took a chance on corecting and converting his sole OBA battery on Turn and it paid off, turning one of my squads berserk, breaking a HS, a crew, and one of my only two leaders. Turn 3 saw the berserker easily mowed down, another squad eliminated, and my other two crews broken. I was 0/3 in my crews passing their initial MCs. He was well-situated in building L4/M5, cutting off any hopes of me getting units upstairs in, or reinforcing, the big building. I still thought I had a chance, but Turn 4 was a devestating one for me, losing four squads and two MGs (including my HMG),. The big building was all but taken, while he wrapped up some melees in the westernmost of the other two buildings. Some really poor rallying prevented me from putting up much resistance as he surged forward to take on my guns, which had been remanned by two crews, while the rest of his force just overpowered me in the last building. In the end, 8ML Russians vs a bunch of 2 ELR 7ML Romanians (many of them HS) would turn out to be too difficult of a matchup, and the Romanians conceded on the last turn with the Russians on the brink of a victory.
2021-08-17(D) Macari Samuel vs hardrada Russian winPBEM. Russian can thank their OBA, destroying the last Gun on a CH in the last turn.
2021-07-22(A) Kevin Duval vs Dwayne Duval Romanian winRomanians did an excellent job of wasting Russian movement. Was looking good for Russians near the last two Turns since they had many units charging the Guns. In the end however Russians were forced to commit everything to get into CC with last two Guns but even with 4to1 odds failed with a 10 DR in CC.
2021-04-24(D) Dave Mareske vs Dan Best Romanian winThe Russians moved aggressively against the Romanians, breaking some, but with the aid of some fanatic and one berserk squad. The OBA did nothing and Romanians were able to fall back to the guns forcing the Russians to make a dash for the guns on the last turn. They were unable to get adjacent to the last gun, even though all the gun crews broke on the sight of the advancing Russians. The guns were not destroyed.
