Overview:

“Operation Kugelblitz” (Ball Lightning) was the opening part of what became known as the 6th Offensive against Tito’s partisans in Yugoslavia. The objective of “Operation Kugelblitz” was to destroy elements of the NOVJ (National Liberation Army of Yugoslavia) II and III Corps in eastern Bosnia. Elements of the elite Brandenburger Division were attached to the 1st Gebirgsjäger Division for the operation, with orders to seize the town of Prijepolje and its critical bridge which spanned the Lim River. The partisan elements at Prijepolje also included former Italian Army troops that had joined the partisan side. Intelligence reported the Italian force included heavy weapons and guns, making Prijepolje a difficult objective. As the Brandenburgers approached the town in the early morning fog, they could see bunkers and guns guarding the town and the bridge. The Brandenburgers opened their attack by moving rapidly into the town and towards the bridge. The fog enabled the Brandenburgers to approach close to the partisan positions before they were recognized. One company of Brandenburgers became embroiled in street fighting east of the river, while the other company assaulted the bridge.
Attacker: German (Elements of Bataillon I., Jäger Regiment 2 (motorized), Brandenburg Division zbV 800 and Relief Platoon Haut, Jäger Regiment 2 (motorized), Brandenburg Division zbV 800)

2024-10-12(A) Michael Rodgers vs George Young Allied winThe fog will prevent a quick German walkover. Remember fog +1 is like a Smoke +1 counter in EVERY hex, which affect FIRE and MOVEMENT. We had to restart after one turn because we forgot the movement part. The Allied setup is very restrictive. Once they can move, they need only to form up and defend the bridge.

2019-05-22(D) Jeff B vs Magnus Rimvall Allied win4.75 hrsLVs are never fun to play with. The key to dealing with them as the defense is laying residual. Unfortunately the Allies in this one have severe setup and shooting limitations for the first Turn. The Germans will initially come in and slaughter them on the first turn and a half. I used the last remnants of fog to my advantage on my Turn 2 to stick around and bag me some HS in CC, but mostly defense here is completely boring. The Germans will detect, move up in force, and either blast away in AFPh or take you out in CC. Unfortunately for them they need to take a building on the far side of the flooded stream. This will be the sticking point for them. If properly defended I don't really see how they can do it, unless they wish to risk a direct assault on the first couple turns under fog cover. So basically you're looking at a dicefest over in the first 2 Turns, or a drawn-out borefest with them stalling at the bridge. Pass on this one.
2019-03-16(D) Kermit Mullins vs Rick Reinesch German winRound 3 of KC 2019 March Madness Tournament. Rick's Germans took some hard hits, before finally steamrolling me for the win.
2019-03-03(A) Jonathan Kapleau vs Duenskie, Ron Allied win
