Overview:

Advancing Soviet spearheads of General Bagramyan's 1st Baltic Front had established bridgeheads across the River Venta near Kursenai. Long experience had taught the Germans the need to eliminate these small bridgeheads as quickly as possible; otherwise the Soviet forces would swiftly increase the strength of the units within them to a point where they could serve as springboards for an attack. The German attack would fall to Generalleutnant Verhein's newly formed and untested 551.Volksgrenadierdivision. On the morning of October 3, foggy conditions grounded the Soviet Air Force, allowing the Germans to close up within the forward Soviet positions undetected before launching their attack. As the German casualties mounted and Soviet reserves arrived to stabilize the line, the German attack lost steam and ground to a halt.

2022-11-19(A) Rob Schmitt vs Ryan Ellett German winI played German Attacker. The Russian Defender set up in the village with a defense in the center. I charged across the road on the 1st turn into a fire lane and took several casualties. I was able to eventually flank and prevent him retreating and/or routing his village team toward the bridge. I was able to set up long range Machine guns to cover the bridge crossing before he could take it with his turn 2 reinforcements. The game went all the way to the final turn 6 with both our forces charging the bridge. He cut down my charge on 1st half of turn 6. His final turn 6 charge was cut down at the last minute with long range machine gun saving the day. Very close game.

2022-08-10(D) davide galloni vs Raffaele Russian win
2022-06-25(D) Pascal Boileau vs Clément German winI misunderstood the statement about the elevated road (it does exist but is not elevated...). Therefore, the Russian reinforcements took a (very) long time for coming in play. During this odyssey, the meager Russian defense was annihilated by the German offensive. In the antepenultimate turn, the bridge was for good in German hands...

2022-05-03(D) Savo Barbero vs Opponent Aanonymous German win[Imported from ROAR]
2022-04-12(A) Alberto González Ramírez vs Alberto German winGerman win in the last turn. Very good scenario and quite balanced.
2022-03-20(D) nathan wegener vs Dan Plachta Russian winDefended in depth. Lost one squad who broke to the first shot. After that however i picked apart the Germans on DFF with the aid of ,more than my share of 3’s and slowly fell back during my turns. All reinforcements had overwatch on the bridge before German could close.
2021-10-08(A) Eric Partizan Eric vs Russian win
2021-06-04(D) Rick Galli vs Ernie Cameron German win
2021-03-30(A) Enrico Saletti vs Alessandro Poluzzi German winApparently doomed by a misunderstanding about the VC, and by early lethal defensive fire, luck took its toll in my last half turn, generating a Hero and conducting it with a squad on the bridge. Russian player, on his side, manlfuncioned then destroyed one of his HMGs with his very first DFF, and another one at a crucial point of German advance.
2020-11-07(A) Richard Jenulis vs Rob Wirthlin German winWest Coast Rumble 2020 (round 4). The Germans were awarded the balance. The Russians set up an up-front defense. HS reconnaicssance and an unbelievably effective first turn Opp Fire broke or eliminated ~ 75% of Russian OB. By turn 2 the Germans were nearly on top of the bridge with a bunch of prisoners in tow. By the end of turn 3 with the Germans on the bridge and very little casualties, the Russians called it. Rob was a very gracious opponent. Thoughts on the scenario; the balance was huge for the Germans. A few breaks would have been Pins, and that would have prevented the envelopment of the Russian forces. The 3+dr6 seems to much of a luck factor swing. I would prefer 3+dr6/2 FRU. That reduces the pre-game luck factor.
2020-10-15(A) Macari Samuel vs Lionel Colin Russian winPBEM
2020-07-08(A) Pascal Boileau vs Jean-Carlo Debolle German winWe really enjoyed playing this short scenario. The Germans progressed swiftly until end of turn 3. As soon as the Russian reinforcements were in position, it became suddenly much harder for the Germans to get closer to the bridge. One valiant German HS survived to many defensive first fires and take (shortly) control of one bridge hex in the last turn. The Russians try to regain control of this hex but they were halted by one of the three last German MMC firing a MMG. It was really close and the issue of the game was decided before last DR...

2020-01-11(D) Dan Best vs Kermit Mullins Draw
2020-01-11(A) Kermit Mullins vs Dan Best DrawDan Best and I faced off in quick playing game that ran just about 3 hours total. My Germans were held up early and never got into a groove. Dan's Russians easily took control of the bridge and that was that.
