Overview:

The bloody battle along the Smolensk-Minsk Railroad continued throughout 24 June. The onslaught of the 16th Guards Rifle Division and breakthroughs by other Russian forces farther north began to put tremendous pressure on the worn-down Germans. Some of them began to withdraw to another defensive belt. but significant forces remained in order to delay the Russian advance.

2022-11-07(D) Simon Staniforth vs Morris Legge German winA good defence with the wire and mines makes it very difficult to capture the PB. CC5 should fall to the Russians by mid game and it did. Therefore the game came down to whether the 88 could be captured or eliminated. I had this on the hill right at the back and despite the Russian Sniper getting the crew early (meaning it took no shots during the whole scenario), the infantry were unable to get to it and the ISUs failed to knock it out despite a couple of hits. Enjoyable small scenario although you are fairly static in your Fortifications as the German defender
