Overview:

See "Franzen's Roadblock" - While the British were in bridge-building mode, the Germans took advantage of the darkness of night to move up reinforcements in an attempt to seal off the bridgehead. HJ-men from Kompanie 1./2 slogged back to ground previously held along the railway embankment and began to dig in. Two other SS companies move into thick pine forests to block an advance out of the northern sector. Responsibility for halting movement along the main road leading to the north was given to a lone Tiger tank commanded by Unteroffizier Franzen.
Attacker: British (D Company, 4th Battalion King's Shropshire Light Infantry | A Squadron, 3rd Battalion Royal Tank Regiment, 11th Armored Division)
Defender: German (SS) (Kompanie 1, SS Ausbildungs & Ersatz Bataillon 12 (Hitler Jugend) | Tiger F02 Panzer Regiment 130)
