Overview:

The war struck northeastern India when a column of the 138th Regiment commanded by Colonel Torikai came upon the remote village of Jassami. The British hastily sent elements of the Assam Regiment to the village in an attempt to continue to slow the Japanese and delay or halt the advance towards Kohima. Having reached the village, the regiment constructed well camouflaged positions and waited for the Japanese. The Japanese launched a banzai attack straight at the village whereupon the Indian troops of the Assam Regiment opened up. . .

2022-05-06(A) Kermit Mullins vs Scott Waites British (Indian) winFour Indian squads set up right up front in order to face my first Banzai charges. I suffered horrific losses as I rolled horribly on simple morale checks. Then I fared poorly in the hand to hands, with the Indians dying but taking squads with them. By Turn 3, I was down to 4 squads and 2 crews. My leaders were either wounded or dead. The British were dug in with 11 squads in the victory buildings. I conceded as I had no chance of success.
2020-12-23(D) O Ramaille vs British (Indian) winThe Indians positioned themselves in the huts and buildings waiting with patience for the banzaï charges. The yelling Japanese suddenly charged in the open with MG and firearms welcoming them. Many fell or withdrew and at the end of the charge a little more than half of them were still standing. The Indians were still in control and systematically destroyed the remaining Japanese. What little was left of the Japanese decided it was time to withdraw. A full Indian victory.
2020-12-23(A) O Ramaille vs Japanese winThe Japanese charged through the Kunai into the first defense position of the Indians helped by the smoke of the mortar. The MG nest fell on a second banzaï charge supported also by smoke. With these first successes, the Japanese opened a way to the distant buildings. They were protected by several lines of fire. A lone Japanese leader charged and distracted part of the defenders. A HS runs in the middle of the defense hoping to attract some fire and prevent SFF. Finally, the last banzaï charge blasted the Indian defense allowing control of the objectives. Despite the Japanese victory, it is far from easy for them.
