Overview:

In downtown Manila just east of the High Commissioner's Office were several high-rise hotels and apartment buildings. These were the University Apartments, Peralta Apartments, Alhambra Apartments, Bayview Hotel, Miramar Apartments, Luneta Hotel and the San Luis Terrace Apartments. Each offered tremendous fields of fire and observation over the two large city parks, Intramuros, the Government buildings, the Manila Hotel, and the South Port facilities. Each building would need to be cleared floor by floor, room by room. From previous experience, the cavalrymen expected this to be another tough assignment.
