Overview:
Commonwealth forces created a cauldron within which they intended to destroy the Afrika Corps. Rommel's troops, nearly exhausted from the continuous fighting and desperately low on supplies, attempted to breakout through a weak point in the Allied lines. The ill-equipped and poorly trained African Rifles dug-in along a wadi amongst a platoon of salvaged A9 and A13 tanks and protected on both flanks by vast minefields. Rommel decided that the African Rifles would be the victim of an early morning surprise. He sent his engineers to open a gap in the minefield under cover of darkness. The African Rifles awoke to plumes of dust on the horizon just as the 90th Light's mechanized troops hit them in with a flanking attack.Attacker: German (90th Light Division and 21st Panzer Division)
Defender: British (African Rifles)
