Overview:

In the early part of WWII, The Navy developed ARGUS units. These units were trained for advanced deployment of RADAR stations to support their island hopping campaign in the Pacific. While mainly tasked with fighter direction, other units were deployed as weather stations. CPO Sam McHale was assigned to one such station in the remote Gobi desert. After a Japanese fighter destroyed the station and killed the CO, McHale and the remaining men had no choice but to head for the Chinese border.
