Overview:
After the failed Kursk offensive, the Großdeutschland Panzergrenadier Division was reassigned to plug holes and stabilize lines. This earned them the somewhat derisive nickname of fire brigade. One such action was at Alissov. The nearby fortified woods were cleared with the assistance of flamethrower tanks, creating fires and ash nearly a meter deep. During the action, a single Tiger tank showed up and parked in a large grain field.
