Overview:

In the conquest of Manila, many bitter battles took place throughout the city. One such contest occurred throughout the medical complex at the University of the Philippines. In large, well-fortified buildings the Japanese defenders fought desperately to stem the American tide. After several days of fighting around the Medical School, the Science Building and the Nurses' Dormitory, the American 148th Infantry Regiment had made little headway. On the 16th, the 148th's 2nd Battalion once again prepared to cross Taft Street and take the university.

2024-06-21(D) Ron Garcia vs Darryl M. Japanese winReally fast playing scenario. I kind of diced my friends American forces after an initial round of cold dice during the first turn. My MTR went on a pretty decent rate tear and shredded the 10-2 kill stack which luckily for me, decided to stop in a woods hex. I nailed the Sherman with an IED and got the Priest with a T-H Hero. After that, the Americans tried to rush across the streets, but nothing good came from it. At best they pinned, and at worst received a CR. After the bottom of turn 3, the Americans were so badly roughed up that they didn't have enough manpower to meet the victory point requirements, so we called it. You'd think on a deluxe board 5.5 turns is plenty of time, but it wasn't. The Americans have to push hard and take some risks. With average luck for both sides, I could see this one going either way. Worth a play.
2020-04-14(D) Ulric Schwela vs Stefano Cuccurullo American winA see-saw battle of changing fortunes saw the American close to throwing in the towel, only to rally and overwhelm the last few Japanese defences. Nice for toys on both sides!
2020-03-21(A) Ulric Schwela vs Stefano Cuccurullo American winAgainst a tide of bad choices and luck as the American I was ready to give up by turn 3. I persevered so not to deny my opponent his deserved win, then the Japanese took the eye off the ball and on the final turn, the last two good order American squads were able to pull off a smoke'n'go so one squad was able to rush into an empty building through withering fire, for once passing his MC and making it. Completely unexpected finale to a game of strong changes in fortune.
2019-04-13(D) nathan wegener vs Joe Celebuski American winGreat scenario bad dice. Failed all morale checks. Open2019
2016-05-23(D) Gordon Jupp vs Stuart Brant American winA real ding dong with both of us malfing weapons and rolling badly at various times! On the last US turn Stuart cx 2 half squads into the rear building and with a full squad and 10-2 leader achieved the 2-1 ratio needed!
