Overview:
The order restored in Semarang on the arrival of the British did not last long. On November 17, open rebellion broke out again, and several British officers and soldiers were killed. The British, under the 23rd Indian Division's artillery commander, Brigadier R.B.W. Bethell took quick action, sending in a divisional defense battalion, assisted by the Japanese troops of Major Kido (under the command of a British officer) and some tanks of the 11th Cavalry, to begin to clear the north end of town.Attacker: Japanese / British (2/19 Kumoans and "A" Squadron, 11th Cavalry with Kido Battalion)
