Overview:
In January 1943, the 6th Armored Infantry Regiment left Oran and headed for Tunisia to fight the superb Afrika Korps. 1st and 2nd battalions were with Combat Command B, while 3rd battalion and the regimental HQs were with Combat Command A. On 18 January, 3rd battalion moved forward to a pine grove near Gafsa. German Stukas dominated the air, while a few P-38s seemed to be the only support.
